How To Treat Pet Accidents On Carpeting Or Upholstery

Pet Urine Accidents Cape Coral | Naples | Fort Myers | Sanibel | Punta Gorda

If you have pets, at some point, you are going to have pet stains on your carpet, mattress or upholstery.

The question remains whether it will be from an accident, illness or dirty paws. For most of us, our biggest concern is getting the smell out as well as the stain removed. Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care specializes in pet stain and odor removal.

The first step of our process is to locate the contaminated areas by using Xenon lighting. Once the pet stains are identified, we apply live enzymes, allow sufficient dwell time and begin our thoroughly exhaustive deodorizing and cleaning process.

Live enzymes are designed to consume bacteria left behind as a result of urine or feces accidents while eliminating the odor and offensive off-gassing.

Our pet accident service is 100% guaranteed so if after five days you still smell the pet odors, we will come back and re-apply the areas at no charge.

If your pet has an accident, or decides they want to mark an area, you may want to try to tackle this job yourself or at least, preventively until Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care arrives.

Here are the steps you can take for best results:

First, locate the soiled area. Getting rid of the odor is important so your pet won’t continue to return to his scent. You want to soak up as much of the liquid as possible (you can use a spoon if the accident is feces) using paper towels. Apply pressure with your foot to help get up most of the liquid.

Next, you want to treat the area to remove the odor. You can apply a solution of 1 part WHITE vinegar to 1 part club soda, saturate the area for 10 minutes and then soak up the liquid. Once the area is almost dry, apply baking soda and let sit for about an hour and then vacuum up.

Beware of using the over-the-counter pet stain removal products as many are soap based and just temporarily cover up the smell. The problem with these products is that you will be unable to get out all of the soap thus leaving a residue that attracts dirt and causes stains to reappear.

Make Sure You’re Booking The Right Carpet Cleaning Company In SW Florida

Carpet | Tile | Upholstery Cleaning – How to schedule a quality company in Lee, Charlotte and Collier County Fl

There are plenty of carpet, tile, and upholstery cleaning companies in SW Florida to choose from and to make sure you’re booking a good one, here are some tips to go by:

Insurance: Does the company have liability AND Workers Compensation insurance?

Before booking a carpet cleaning company feel free to ask if they have liability and workers compensation insurance.

It may surprise you that not everyone carries these valuable insurances designed to protect the homeowner.  If you have doubt of their coverage, simply ask for a copy of their policy.

Did you know if you invite a contractor into your home who does not carry liability insurance and they damage your home, fixtures or valuables, you’re on the hook?  Sure, you can sue them, but chances are, if they cannot afford insurance, they can not afford to pay you after you’ve spent time and money filing a suit against their negligence.

To add injury to insult, if one of their employees slips and falls in your home and their employer does not provide workers compensation insurance, you’ll be liable for the employees medical and “pain and suffering” costs.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is fully licensed and insured with liability and workers compensation insurance.

If you’re willing to hire an uninsured contractor, make sure your homeowners policy is up to date!

Certifications: Is The Company Nationally Certified In Their Field Of “Expertise?”

Before scheduling your next carpet, tile or upholstery cleaning, ask the carpet cleaning representative to provide you proof they are certified and trained to a professional organizations standards, such as the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC) or the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).

Such national certifications ensure the company has passed rigorous scrutiny and are apprised of the latest standards that affect our industry.  Too often, unscrupulous carpet, tile and upholstery cleaning companies skip many of the industry certifications because they’re not interested in following industry guidelines.  In addition, many “non-certified” companies simply don’t want to invest the time or expense of certification, or they may not qualify because they don’t carry the appropriate insurance for the protection of consumers.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is certified by the IICRC and the CRI.  Our goal is to deliver the highest standard of cleaning possible.

Service Guarantee – Exactly What Is Their Guarantee?

Oftentimes service companies will “say” they guarantee their work but won’t put it in writing and won’t spell out exactly what their service guarantee is.

At Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care, we consider it an honor when a client invites into their home.  We believe our clients should receive the same level of service we would provide our own mothers.  For this reason, our service guarantee is this:

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care has a 100% money back guarantee. If you are not completely thrilled with the service experience provided, we will return to your home at NO CHARGE and attempt to receify the issue.  If you are still not satisfied, and the problem was not preexisting, we will issue a refund.

Payment methods: What sort of payment methods do they accept and when should you pay?

Before booking, ask about the payment methods they accept and when you’re required to pay.

Make sure you ask, before booking a service about the payment methods they accept, such as checks or credit cards and when payment is due.

A responsible carpet, tile or upholstery cleaning company such as Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care will never ask for payment before services are rendered.  We’ve read horror stories of some cleaning companies only accepting cash upfront before providing any service.

At Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care we never collect for services until the job has been completed and the client indicates they are happy with our services.  We accept all major credit cards, cash, and checks.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the international Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau and a four-year-in-a-row winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.

Before hiring just “anybody” or inviting a “stranger” into your home, check their industry credentials.   With the internet verifying credentials couldn’t be easier.

A quality carpet cleaning company will invest in their employees through industry certifications, ongoing training and seminars, carry the appropriate liability and workers compensation insurance and thoroughly vet their staff for criminal and sex offenses on an annual basis.

We hope these tips help you receive the most thorough service experience ever and if we can be of service, please do not hesitate to give Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care a call anytime at 239-541-4888 or visit us online at www.ForCleanCarpets.com.

Does Carpet or Upholstery Protector Really Work?

Does Carpet or Upholstery Protector Really Work?

ABSOLUTELY!  When properly applied.

Unfortunately, there is a great deal of confusion about carpet and upholstery protectors in our industry.

Untrained and sometimes downright unscrupulous carpet cleaners give out false information, and in the worse cases, intentionally misrepresent the product.

Carpet and upholstery protectors help protect textiles from liquid penetration due to spillage and also enhances its ability to resist dry soils.  A quality protector resists dry soil that usually leads to traffic lanes in your carpeting.  Due to this resistance, when you vacuum, you’ll receive a deeper clean as the soils can not stick to properly protected fibers.  In addition, most spills are resisted allowing the homeowner an opportunity to clean them up before permanent staining becomes a reality.

Two Ways Factory Protector is Removed From A Carpet

  1. Regular foot traffic – Over a period of six months to two years, depending on the traffic, a significant amount of protector can be removed from your traffic areas and must be reapplied.
  2. High Alkaline cleaners. Many cleaners use harsh chemicals on the carpet, and those chemicals will strip your carpet’s factory protection.  No factory manufactured carpeting on the market has permanent, indestructible fabric protector built in during the manufacturing process.  To protect your carpets soil and spillage properties, you should have carpet protector applied with each cleaning.

Paid A Carpet Cleaning Company To Protect Your Carpeting And It Didn’t Work?  Here’s Why.

  1. The company did not use a high-quality protector. Discount protectors are watered down and not as effective and sometimes void the warranty of the carpet.  Many “discount house,” coupon companies and unscrupulous carpet cleaners use cheap, no name protectors or water down name brand products to make them go further and put more profits in their pockets.
  2. Not applying the product properly. Some cleaners either under-apply or over-apply protector.  The manufacturer guidelines must be followed if the client is to receive maximum protection.
  3. If the carpet cleaning company does not rake the protector into the carpeting, or groom it into your fabrics, the protector will not penetrate the textile. Proper grooming ensures contact with all areas of the upholstery’s fabric and carpet fibers.
  4. And the last reason quality protector doesn’t work is because it was never applied even though you were charged for it. Many unscrupulous carpet cleaners simply don’t apply protector at all or tell the client protector is being applied at the same time their carpeting is being cleaned.  Carpet and upholstery protector can ONLY BE APPLIED after the cleaning process has been completed, and then applied using a pump sprayer.

A great looking carpet can be ruined by an ugly spot.

Unprotected carpet doesn’t repel spillage and dry soils as well as protected carpeting.  Carpet protector will help spills from becoming permanent stains and allow easier cleanup.  Carpeting that has been protected will allow your vacuuming to become more efficient by enabling more particulate to be recovered with each cleaning.  Protected carpeting will also allow the professional carpet cleaner to deliver a higher quality cleaning because there will be less staining and soils to contend with.

Allergen Free Carpet And Upholstery Cleaning For SW Florida

Allergy Season Is Here Cape Coral | Fort Myers | Naples | Punta Gorda

It’s that time of the year when flowers start to bloom, grass starts to wake and palm tree pollen begins to fill the air.

While it’s beautiful outside, this seasonal change can sometimes wreak havoc on those who suffer from seasonal allergies. Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care deals with eliminating allergens all the time when we clean carpet, mattresses, and upholstery, but there are also some other things you can do to ensure you breathe a little bit easier while you enjoy the onset of spring.

Clean Air Filters. Air filters used with your air conditioning systems are great for catching dirt and pollen while ensuring your AC system runs smoothly. However, when your AC filters become clogged with dust, pollen and other contaminants, the air coming through your system passes through these dirty filters, potentially picking up and spreading allergens along the way. Make sure they are cleaned and replaced regularly to minimize allergens in your home.

Get the Right Kind of Air. If you suffer from springtime allergies, then flowers and pollen are likely the problem. If this is the case then be sure to keep your windows closed, and take off your shoes before tracking outdoor allergens through your home. If allergens from indoor dust are your problem, then we recommend opening the windows and letting some fresh air in – or just be very thorough when you clean!

Remove Dust, Don’t Spread It. We’ve established that keeping your home clean is essential, but be certain you are removing the dust and not just spreading it around. Remember to remove your shoes when coming from outside, we can’t stress this enough.

Avoid feather dusters and similar cleaning tools as these will spread the dust around rather than actually removing it; instead, use a damp cloth that will absorb the dust and remove it for good. And, please don’t forget your mattress. Each of us sheds skin cells that feed dust mites and every mattress in the world contains these little critters.

Dust mites can interfere with a good night’s sleep and their feces contributes to watery eyes, stuffy noses, tossing and turning and allergies.  A thoroughly exhaustive mattress cleaning once a year should help elevate the symptoms of dust mites and allow you a peaceful, deep sleep.  And if you have infants or are expecting a new baby to your household, a thoroughly exhaustive cleaning with an allergen treatment may be just what the doctor ordered.

Of course, one of the best things you can do is have your carpets cleaned professionally. We happen to specialize in thoroughly exhaustive carpet cleaning, so give us a call and get rid of the allergies today!

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau and a four-year-in-a-row winner of Angie’s List coveted Super Service Award.

Rental Carpet Cleaning Machines – Do They Work in SW Florida?

Images AFTER Carpeting Had An Opportunity To Dry

Recently a realtor called us to evaluate the carpeting in a rental home.  You see, a couple weeks earlier, the tenants moved out and invited the property manager to do a walk thru so they could resolve any issues and qualify to get their security deposit back.

The manager did a walk-thru, noticed everything was in order and the carpeting had been cleaned and promptly authorized the return of the tenant’s security deposit.  (Note to self – carpeting always look better when wet – the true result of the cleaning effort will appear when it dries)

Fast forward two weeks.  The property manager met a prospective new tenant at the home to show it and was horrified to see the crème carpeting now had brown splotches throughout and what looked like moss could be seen on the window sills.

What we have here folks is someone “pretending” to be a professional carpet cleaner.

In this instance, the tenants, to save money regardless of the impact it may have on the homeowner, decided to pretend to be carpet cleaners and rented a “carpet cleaning machine” at the local grocery store.  They purchased the “over the counter” cleaning solutions as recommended, and dutifully returned to the home where their six-hour journey in carpet cleaning would begin.

They read the directions on how to mix the watered down cleaning solutions, filled the unheated small tank with water and turned on the undersized suction unit.  They were set!  Now for the next six hours, they would labor over refilling the tank, dragging the machine against the carpeting and change partners every twenty minutes.

The end result?  A surface cleaning combined with a sopping mess of water and cleaning solution.  It took the carpeting three days to “dry”, left a saturated mess in the padding, and because of the length of time it took the carpeting to dry, browned the carpeting throughout.

And let’s not forget about the mossy growing stuff on the window sills.  Yup, that was mold and mildew due to the elevated humidity in a locked up house with no electricity for over a week!

Rental carpet cleaning machines are useless.

To properly clean carpets according to ALL major carpet mills, most carpeting must be steamed cleaned.  A store rental unit can’t “steam clean” anything.  They lack sufficient psi to properly apply commercial grade cleaning solutions deep in the carpet fibers without saturating the padding.  They lack heat to create steam so once again, they soak the carpeting and padding.  And one more thing.  They lack vacuum to extract over 90% of the water they apply.  In the end, the homeowner is left with a mess.

ALL RESIDENTIAL LEASES SHOULD FORBID CARPET CLEANING RENTAL MACHINE AND DEMAND TENANT PROVIDE THE RENTAL AGENT WITH A RECEIPT FROM A PROFESSIONAL CARPET CLEANER.

We are also the “cleaner of choice” to many of our areas leading property managers, investors, and homeowners who are serious about protecting their investments while extending the life of their carpeting.  All of our cleaning efforts are in strict adherence to manufacturer recommendations including Shaw, Karastan and Mowhawk.

Tile & Grout Cleaning – Why Can’t I Mop The “Ugly” Away?

Beautiful Tile and Grout Is Just a Phone Call Away

What causes grout lines to be discolored?

When you mop your unprotected tile and grout, the water naturally seeks out the lowest spot on your flooring and settles in the grout lines.  Over time, soils, oil, pollen, spills and pet dander make their way deep in the grout causing the grout lines to discolor and turn “ugly”.  The more you mop your tile and grout, the worse the condition becomes.

How We Clean Clean Tile and Grout

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care’s thoroughly exhaustive approach to tile and grout cleaning uses professional grade cleaning solutions in combination with the tile and grout cleaning tools and equipment.

Our powerful truck mounted technologies are designed to eliminate deep-set dirt, oils, and other contaminates by safely applying over 800lbs of cleaning action at 245 degrees.

We begin the tile and grout cleaning process by applying a pet and baby safe emulsifying cleaning agent charged with hydrogen peroxide to all tiled areas to be cleaned.  Our technician will then use a grout cleaning brush to work the cleaner deep into the grout and allow sufficient time to dwell.  Our truck mount then goes to work, and the end results speak for themselves.

How To Avoid Dirty Grout Lines

As soon as you have your tile and grout professionally cleaned, we recommend sealing the grout with a professional grade (not store purchased) penetrating grout sealer.

Unlike many tile cleaning companies who use the cheapest sealer they can find that offers no or limited protection, Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care applies the industry leading Stonetech Bulletproof Professional Sealer. During the life of the sealer, soils, moisture from your mop and spills will no longer be able to penetrate the grout, making it easier to clean and will improve the appearance of your tiled areas for years to come.

We also offer grout staining to those clients who are interested in permanently changing the color of their existing grout or in instances where the existing grout has been permanently stained and does not look good even after cleaning.  Tile floors that have been color sealed look better than brand new.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute.  In addition, we are A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau and a four-year-in-a-row winner of Angie’s List Super Service Award.

Why Clean Your Carpeting Every 12-18 Months? Ask Your Health.

For the HEALTH of your loved ones, have your carpeting cleaned regularly

If carpets aren’t routinely cleaned they can become one of the leading factors of illness and allergies in your home.  Dirty carpeting also poses special health risks to newborns and babies.

Carpeting is the largest filter in your home and can hold approximately 8 times its weight in dust, dirt, dust mites, pollen, and other contaminants.  Regularly vacuuming of your carpeting is a good start to help keep alleviate approximately 50% of the allergens but does nothing to remove the oils and liquid spills.

Unclean carpeting can lead to headaches, queasiness, runny noses, itchy eyes, skin rashes and poor sleep habits.

Every time you spray an aerosol in a room with carpeting or utilize any sort of liquid cleaner, each time you enter your home and walk on the carpet in your unclean shoes, each time your children and pets enter in from the yard and sit down on the carpeting, trace quantities of pollutants are being left in it. Not even the most comprehensive Sunday cleaning has the capability to dislodge all of the dirt and gunk left behind.

Dust mites can produce in astounding waves, and become just as much of a problem. They live on bacteria, fungi, and human skin cells. The typical human being sheds around 50 million skin cells in a day! For that reason, an unclean carpet serves as an unending feast for allergens.

Clean carpets and upholstery contribute to a positive healthy well being

Your carpeting supplies a range of functions. It enhances the visual value and filters your air.

Carpets serve as a filter, detoxifying the air of airborne particles, just like our central cooling and heating systems.  Carpeting works by trapping accumulated impurities like pollen, soil, dust, food fragments, and animal hair, in turn keeping them out of circulation of the air we breathe.

Eventually, if not properly cleaned every 12-18 months, your carpets and upholstery will reach a maximum saturation level and release the trapped particles into the air.  These released particulate will pollute indoor air quality and guess what folks, you’re now breathing them.

Every major carpet mill recommends cleaning your carpeting every 12-18 months to help improve indoor air quality while extending the life of your carpeting and warranty.
