Grout Color Sealing – Make Your Tile Floors Look New Again!

Grout Color Sealing throughout SW Florida GUARANTEED FOR LIFE!

Grout color sealing, if performed by experienced craftsmen using top quality sealers, will transform the look of your tiled floors and should be guaranteed for life.

Unfortunately, in the SW Florida market, many contractors offer to “color seal” your tiled areas but will not guarantee this service for more than a year or so.

Is there genuine value in having your grout color sealed?

The answer is, it depends.

The truth is, when performed by a quality contractor using a quality product and is willing to guarantee their grout color sealing service for as long as you own your home, there is a lot of value. The problem is some companies are touting this service yet doing nothing more than ‘painting grout’ with what amounts to house paint.

Why Grout Color Sealing?

Having your tile and grout professionally cleaned will remove dirt, oils, most spills, pet urine, and other contaminants.  In the overwhelming majority of homes, a thoroughly exhaustive tile and grout cleaning are all that’s needed to make their floors look phenomenal.

As grout ages and is subjected to pet urine, acidic spills, or simply not maintained properly, the grout can stain or become blotchy in places and no amount of professional cleaning can remove staining.

Similarly, to spilling bleach on your favorite pair of blue jeans, the stain is permanent no matter how many times you wash those jeans.

When professionally applied, grout color sealing is designed to hide blemishes and staining damage while making your grout look better than brand new.

There are also aesthetic reasons for choosing color sealing. When you have areas where only some of the grout needs to be replaced, it is virtually impossible to match the color of the new grout to the older grout that is still intact. Even if you use the identical product and color, aging and wear have already altered the look of your previously installed grout and the difference is usually noticeable. Color sealing will provide a consistent look across the board, making all your grout look new again.

Grout color sealing can completely change your grout to virtually any color you choose. The benefit of this is obvious. Are you considering new decor, an updated, fresher look or trying to restore the grout to its original color? Your existing grout doesn’t need to hold you back or limit your choices.

Proper application using quality sealers and colorants that ensures complete protection over the entire surface of your grout is an art that requires training and practice to master.

At Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care, our professionals not only have the training, experience, and tools to do the job correctly, they have access to a wide variety of professional sealers and can match any color you can dream of.

Don’t be one of those homeowners who assume “all color sealers and companies” are the same.

The quality of the product used coupled with the experience of the technicians and the guarantee after the sale is critical!

Some companies —even some that may surprise you —are using products that are tantamount to house paint. It may look great right after they finish, but within a short time, the paint peels or cracks. Not only that, but this type of product does not have the properties of a proper color sealer, such as constant acting mildewcides or true stain prevention. Be sure to do your due diligence, and don’t hesitate to thoroughly question your prospective provider.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ Rated with the Better Business Bureau and a six-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.

Dryer Vent Cleaning – Make Sure Your Home Is Protected

Dryer vents that are not regularly cleaned can cause house fires and severely limit the life of your dryer, so it is recommended that you have your dryer vents cleaned once a year. Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care offers professional and efficient dryer vent cleaning services throughout Lee, Charlotte and Collier County.

How do you know when it’s time to have your dryer vents cleaned?

  • Your dryer takes an unusually long time to dry your clothes. Even after multiple cycles, clothes may still be damp. If there isn’t anything wrong with the dryer, this can be a sign that the dryer vents are starting to restrict due to lint build up and need to be cleaned.
  • At the end of the dryer cycle, your clothes are very hot. This can be because the hot air that the dryer produces isn’t able to escape properly due to clogged vents.
  • The outside, especially the top, of the dryer is very hot. This is often because the dryer is working too hard, trying to push air through vents that are clogged with lint.
  • The dampers or flappers of the exhaust termination don’t open or barely open when the dryer is running. This can be because air is not traveling at all or very poorly through the vents.
  • The laundry room starts to feel very warm or humid when the dryer is in use. The hot, damp air can’t escape through the vents, so it backs up into the laundry room.
  • You notice excessive dust or moisture in the laundry room. This is because lint is getting trapped in the dryer vents and blown back into the laundry room.
  • The dryer may stop before the dry cycle is finished because it can’t properly vent the hot air or the unit itself gets overheated. Clogged vents contribute to this.
  • A burnt smell in the laundry room can indicate that lint is backed up. If you notice a burnt smell, you should have the dryer and dryer vents inspected right away, as this could cause a fire.

Dryer lint is highly combustible and clogged dryer vents are the leading cause of residential fires in the United States.  In fact, over 15,000 fires are started annually due to clogged dryer vents with over 35 deaths, 400 injuries and over $200 million in property damage.

Remember, cleaning your lint trap after each dryer cycle can help reduce the amount of lint trapped in the vent, however, even when keeping your lint screen clean, lint will still enter the ducting where it will build up over time. Don’t forget to also check the back of the dryer for lint as well. Check the exhaust vent from the outside of the house regularly to ensure that it is clear and free of debris, along with an annual inspection to make sure your dryer is functioning safely.

If you notice any of the warning signs or multiple signs, it is time to give Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care a call.  In about an hour we can clean and disinfect your dryer vent system removing years of built-up lint, bacteria, and other contaminants.  Our service is designed to help your dryer run more efficiently, help prevent damage to your dryer, and reduce the risk of devastating fires.

How to Avoid 3 Carpet Cleaning Rip-Offs in SW Florida

Rip-Off #1: Unbelievably low price. To some degree, all of us are attracted by low price because we want to work within a budget. However, some carpet cleaners use price as the bait for their false and misleading advertising. They offer a cheap price and then, once they’re in your home or office, they pressure you into buying “add-ons” or say that you need a “deep scrub” and of course that costs extra.

It’s as if you were buying a car and found that the dealer was charging you extra for the tires and steering wheel. Quality carpet cleaning is not as cheap as some unethical cleaners would like you to believe.

Rip-Off #2: Bait and Switch. Dual process carpet cleaning describes the process of shampooing or heavy preconditioning, followed with hot water extraction cleaning. Unfortunately, unethical carpet cleaners often use dual process as a bait and switch technique.

Here’s how it’s done: First they “bait” you with a basic cleaning on the telephone (single process – no heavy preconditioning)) at an unbelievably low price. Then, when they’re in your home, they try to “switch” you to the more expensive dual-process cleaning. If you don’t fall for their switch and choose their basic service, you’ll likely receive poor workmanship, and they will not guarantee their work.

Every carpet cleaning performed by Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a dual process.

Rip-Off #3: Unsupported claims, “THIS CLEANING METHOD IS THE BEST.” You’ll read this in almost every ad and hear this from virtually every carpet cleaner. However, remember this, the method that’s best for you is the method that achieves your goal.

According to ALL MAJOR CARPET MILLS, the IICRC and the Carpet & Rug Institute, the deepest clean you’ll receive is through the delivery of hot water extraction (steam cleaning).  Some carpet cleaners try to cut corners and offer “dry cleaning.”

Dry cleaning carpeting is nothing more than spraying the surface of the carpet fibers with a detergent (some are now even sprinkling powered detergent), and then using a buffer to buff the surface.  This is a surface clean NOT deep cleaning and deep-set dirt, oils, and pollen will return to the surface in a matter of days or weeks.

If you’re looking for a surface cleaning, the “dry cleaning” method is for you.  If you’re looking for a deep cleaning, follow the carpet manufacturers advice.   So, before you choose a carpet cleaner, identify your objectives. Then select the method that best reaches those objectives.

Our dual process carpet cleaning is designed to help lift years of deep-set dirt, oils, dust mites, pollen and detergents left behind by previous carpet cleaners while delivering our clients the deepest clean possible.  Our cleaning solutions are safe for the environment and Gold Certified by the Carpet & Rug Institute.

Carpet Stretching and Repairs Throughout SW Florida

Are you experiencing bumps and ripples in your carpet that seem to have come out of nowhere?

We’re often asked, why is this happening, and the simple answer is, many factors can cause these issues.

In almost 90% of all issues, we’re asked to rectify, a poor installation by your carpet installer is to blame. Some carpet installation businesses cut corners at your expense and do a poor job tacking down or stretching the carpeting during installation.  Ripples, seal separation and bumps will rear their ugly head two or three years after installation, long after the carpet installer is gone.

If a poor installation wasn’t the cause, a failed tack strip is also something to consider. This is a relatively common occurrence that can be remedied by replacing the damaged tack-strip with a new one and re-stretching your carpet.

While these are the most common reasons why your carpet currently has bumps and ripples, another reason that many people do not think about is the damage caused by heat.

Did you know that temperatures over 85 degrees can damage carpet? The heat inside the home ends up “relaxing” the carpet, thus creating the ripples and wrinkles.

We typically see this type of damage when homes are put up for sale and sit on the market for a long time or the property is owned by a snowbird, and they have set the AC unit too high, or in some cases, off, to save money.

Whatever has damaged your carpeting, from pet accidents, seam separation, bumps, ripples or holes, Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care can repair your carpeting.

Dryer Vent Cleaning – Regular Cleanings Are A “Good Thing”

Dryer Vent Cleaning Message

All Dryer Vent Cleaning Companies are NOT The Same

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care has an A+ Rating by the Better Business Bureau, and we are a five-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.  Our thoroughly exhaustive approach to dryer vent cleaning is relied upon by realtors, apartment complexes, condominium associations and homeowners who don’t want to worry about a fire starting in their dryer vent ducting.

We take our job or dryer vent cleaning seriously.  We have to, as families depend on our cleaning services for a good night’s sleep.

How We Clean Dryer Vents

Our services begin with the testing of the air flow of your dryer vent before and after cleaning.   This measurement allows us to determine the airflow efficiency before and after the cleaning.

The next step is to disconnect the dryer vent and use a video scope to inspect the inside of the dryer ducting, from the wall to where the venting exits the home or structure.  This scoping allows us to check the health of your ducting and note any obstructions such as lint build up, potential bird or insect nests, twigs and other impediments.

The technician will then insert a rotating brush and safely snake it through the entire duct system while a powerful vacuum or truck mount unit is used to evacuate the dislodged contaminants as a result of the rotary cleaning.  We will then reinspect the ducting with a video scope, and upon exceptional results, we fog the ducting with an antibacterial, clean under and around the dryer, vacuum the dryer vent screen and reapply the vent duct.

Do you really need your dryer vent cleaned?

Dryer duct cleaning prevents dangerous levels of a buildup of lint, potential nests, and other obstructions while significantly reducing the risk of a fire.

Dryer lint is highly flammable, and it doesn’t take much to ignite.  Cleaning your lint trap after each load of laundry is a good practice HOWEVER small particulate of lint will bypass this trap and stick to the moist walls of your dryer vent system.  Over time, this trapped lint chokes the ventilation and prevents efficient heat escape.  Dryer vent cleaning is recommended every 2-3 years, depending on how often the dryer is used.

How Do I Know When It’s Time To Have My Dryer Vent Cleaned?

The drying time for your clothing takes longer and longer, or you start to experience moisture in your laundry room when drying clothes.

A clogged dryer duct can increase the amount of time it takes to dry clothing by double or triple the time. Clothing that takes twice as long to dry is not only an energy waster but also a fire hazard.  The longer your dryer runs, the more wear and tear on the unit and reduced life expectancy of the dryer.

Your clothing and the outside of the dryer are very hot.

Do you notice that the dryer is unusually hot to the touch or that the clothing is much hotter at the end of the drying cycle? If the dryer duct becomes clogged, it makes it so the heat can’t escape the machine properly. This can cause the heating element or the blower to wear out or overheat. In time this will damage the dryer and create the need for costly repairs or possible replacement.

Burning smell.

Do you smell a burning odor when you run your dryer? Lint Is exceptionally flammable, and if this trapped lint gets too hot, it can catch on fire. If you start to smell a burning odor while running your dryer, stop and get it inspected.

The outside vent hood is clogged or doesn’t open.

The outside vent opening of the dryer duct sometimes has a flap that opens and closes. If this flap isn’t opening while the dryer is running, then it is most likely clogged. Dryer ducts are also favored by critters (birds, rodents, and reptiles) to hide because they can stay nice and warm. If this outlet doesn’t have a flap and it’s just an opening, sometimes birds make nests inside this and cause clogs.

How Much Does Dryer Vent Cleaning Cost?

A thoroughly exhaustive vent cleaning by Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is $109.95 for most homes and includes the following steps:

  • Air measurement reading before and after dryer vent cleaning
  • Video scope of the entire dryer vent system
  • Rotary extraction cleaning
  • Antimicrobial infusion of the duct system to eliminate mold and mildew spores
  • Cleaning of the lint trap as well as under and around the dryer

If Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care can ever be of service in helping your dryer to run more efficiently and to help prevent a dryer duct fire, please do not hesitate to give us a call any time.

Grout Color Sealing – Guaranteed for LIFE!

Fact:  No matter how often you clean your tile flooring, and no matter which method you use (mopping, steaming, etc.), if your grout has not been sealed, it is absorbing dirty water, spills, etc. and it will “ugly over time.

Sanded grout begins as a dense granular that is used to fill gaps and serve as a reinforcement in the placement of your floor tiling.  Grout is generally a mixture of water, cement, and sand and is very porous once dried.  Grout is often tinted to help complement your tile flooring.

Because sanded grout is porous, to help protect against staining and discoloration, while helping to make cleaning up spills easier, it should have a protective coating applied.  A protective coating will help make your grout less absorbent thereby affording the time to clean up spills before they cause permanent damage.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care understands the necessity of grout sealing and offers two different sealing products, clear sealer or color sealant, that will help protect your grout.

Clear sealer is typically applied after the tile and grout have been professionally cleaned and the client is happy with the look wants to protect it the beauty of their grout lines from spills and moisture.  Clear seal is invisible to the naked eye and allows the natural beauty of the grout to come through while protecting it from the elements.

Our exclusive color sealer product is used when the client wants to change the existing color of their grout or restore it to better than new condition.  We can match any color, and our color sealer not only makes your grout look better than the day it was installed, with proper maintenance, but we also guarantee the beauty and sealant properties forever!

At Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care, we use industry-leading colorants and sealers that are applied by trained experts. Our services are relied upon by many of SW Florida’s leading interior designers, flooring contractors, restoration specialists and homeowners desirous of a permanent solution to their current “ugly” floor problem.

No matter which sealing solution you choose, our sealers are designed to form a moisture-tight seal over the grout to keep out liquids, dirt, and stains.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care offers free in-home estimates and the only company in the State of Florida to provide a lifetime guarantee.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ Rated with the Better Business Bureau and a five-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.

Carpet Cleaning – LOVE Your Carpets Again…

LOVE Your Clean Carpets

Some of the most common questions asked about carpet cleaning are, “Will the spots come back?”, “Will the dents from the furniture come out?”, “Will the traffic areas look better after it’s done?”, and “Will these stains come out?”

The answers depend on several factors that we consider when we clean your carpet. Carpet can be made with a variety of fibers, each having its own cleaning characteristics. Every fiber responds to traffic differently. Spills that are easy to remove from one fiber may permanently stain another. Various styles such as loop pile, friezé, shag, Saxony and velvet plush all respond to traffic in different ways.

The quality and density of the cushion is another factor that determines how well a carpet performs in traffic areas. Even the way the pile yarns are twisted and how tightly packed they are in the carpet backing makes a difference in durability and cleanability. An experienced cleaner will assess the condition of your carpet, asking questions such as, “How old is the carpet?”, “How was it cleaned in the past, and how often?”, “Was protector applied during the last cleaning?”, How old are the spots, spills and stains, and have you tried anything to clean them?”

With all these variables, it’s not an exact science. However, there are some things we know about carpet, fibers, soil, and stains that give us a clue as to what we can anticipate from the cleaning process.

The most important consideration is the type of fiber. Wool carpet has excellent resilience, so those crushed traffic areas and furniture indentations have a good chance of coming out. Wool is more easily stained by proteins than other fibers, so some foods, pet urine and other protein sources like blood will be difficult to remove.

Olefin carpets don’t have the resiliency of wool, so high traffic areas tend to pack down and lose that fluffy texture over time. Olefin has excellent stain-resistance and color-fastness.

Stain-resist nylon has excellent resilience and good stain and soil repellency, so carpets made with nylon tend to be the best overall performers. However, depending on how the fiber was dyed, Nylon may be bleached by some household chemicals or sunlight.

Polyester fibers have an affinity for oily soils, so food or petroleum grease spots will be more difficult to remove. However, Polyester, like Olefin, is very resistant to stains and bleaching. The bottom line is that how the carpet looks after cleaning will depend on some factors that are out of our control. However, with an experienced cleaner, you can be assured of the best results possible for your carpet.

Call Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care to learn more or schedule your next cleaning.

Tru-Clean Carpet & Tile Care is a Certified Partner with the prestigious Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) and the International Carpet & Rug Institute (CRI).  In addition, we are A+ Rated by the Business Bureau and a five-year-in-a-row-winner of the coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award.
